I'm here at work with some empty time on my hands and thought I would express some feelings I am having at this time. I feel the hands of Autumn reaching out. I love the warm months and prefer them, yet there is something about fall that always takes me back to my youth. I can't ever put a finger on exactly what that feeling is. It is a good feel. Maybe it is the thoughts of the holidays of my youth. One of my first thoughts is of Halloweens. My dad and mom were the best at making some great costumes out of anything we had at home. I remember one time going to Grandma Sowerby's house and she didn't recognize my dad in his costume and told him her was a little too big to be out trick-or-treating. Thanksgiving dinners gathered with the Sowerby's are other wonderful times to remember. There was the aunts, uncles and all the cousins to make it such a day to look forward to. Not to mention the tons of delicious food! Then the thoughts drift to Christmas' at Grandma Sowerby's house with her silver tree. I think of My Grandpa Sowerby's emaculate yards and how we kept the leaves raked up. I think he went out every day to keep the leaves cleaned up! I thnk of dinners at grandma's house. She could whip a delicious meal from anything. I had such a close relationship with my grandma especially after grandpa died. I was with her once or twice a week. I so miss her!!! She was always supportive and encouraging to me. She loved for me to bring my kids over. We loved going to the malls in Salt Lake to shop and find a good place to eat. I also gave her perms for years. At times when life gets a little complicated I like to go to those places in my mind of those good and happy times. Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't trade my life with anyone. I am so blessed. I am so thankful for the relationships with family and friends that help to make me a better person. Especially when I see how heroic they face their challenges.

4th of July

It has been a week since our Old Glory Days for Riverdale. It wears me out. But I was so excited at the success of the whole thing. One of the things I was most excited about was our flyover. We have one every year but this year because of some complications I didn't get the paperwork done in time. When Hill Air Force Base contacted me I had to tell them 'no'. So that morning in my craziness all of a sudden when our parade was going there comes four jets overhead followed by some larger plane. I was so excited!!! For the whole thing the baby contest, the volleyball and 3 on 3 tournaments, the watermelon & pie eating contests, the entertainment, the booths, the parade, the 5k walk/run, the kids games & the fireworks was a good day. But my day starts at 4am and by the time the fireworks come, mine has fizzled out. One of the funny things was at the entertainment we had a hypnotist. Our Mindy went up there. He had her being 'Mr. America'. he told her when her called her up to recieve her award she would strut across the stage and flex. She did!!! She was a hoot!!! Later the hypnotist had all the contestants stand up to do the "bum drum." They would use their own behind ends as a drum. He also told them they couldn't play anyone elses drums(hee, hee). Everyone faced their behind ends towards the audience and with one had on each side 'played the drum'. Mindy had us cracking up because she did it differently than everyone else. She took both hands at a time and "played one side at a time.

We arrived in Price early on Saturday morning. Kim and her mom were there to greet us. We visited for most of the day. Kim took us into her computer room and showed Tammy, Debbie and I how to set up a blog. My mom and aunt weren't interested and soon went to the other room to visit. One thing I can say is when I get with my mom and sisters there is always laughter. The same goes when I am with my cousins. We did so much of that for the two days we were there. That evening we went to WalMart and bought groceries to have a BBQ. We split up the groceries to buy so we went through the 20 items or less checkout because none of us had more than that. Sneaky!!!! Kim's husband, Steve, pretty much stayed invisible outside working on projects or such. I am sure he wasn't about to be any closer to five women for two days than he had to. It was so fun to see Kim's children. Her daughter-in-law, Jen, came with her two darling girls, Ashley & Paige, on Saturday. We went over to her son, Tony's house later that day to meet them. They are just moving in. We met his wife, but Tony was seen driving away on a motorcycle with a friend. Then on Sunday her daughter,Ceresa, husband, and adorable boys, Cole & Kalib, came over. Later that day her son, Chris, visited. What a good family she has. While we were there we got to see where Kim works. It is the Community Housing for seniors. There is a new one being built that she will manage also. Way to go Kim! It was such a good time! The only thing that would have made it better is if my sister, Michelle, and my cousins Karen & Karlene could have been there.

Trip to Kim's House

This is my first time blogging and I am excited to be on board with sisters and cousins. This past weekend my mom, sisters; Tammy and Debbie and I drove to Price to visit my cousin, Kim. We have been saying we are going to do this forever. With events that have happened in the past months it has been shown just how precious life is and how we need to act on those promptings.
